The training ladder

Volare Aviation offers four training paths at Jefferson County Airpark, and they connect: Private Pilot → Instrument Rating → Commercial Pilot → CFI/CFII. Every rung is flown in our fully modernized glass-cockpit Piper Cherokee with individualized, founder-led instruction — prerequisites and hours handled case-by-case.

    Private Pilot

The Private Pilot certificate is the foundation of everything in aviation, and it is where most Volare students start. Training builds your stick-and-rudder skills, your aeronautical knowledge, and — most importantly — the judgment that keeps a pilot safe.

You will train one-on-one in our fully modernized, glass-cockpit Piper Cherokee, on a schedule built around your goals and availability. Consistency matters more than intensity, and we will help you build a training rhythm that fits your life.

No previous experience is needed. Many students begin with no aviation background at all — a Discovery Flight is often the best first step.

  2. 2

    Rung 2 of 4 All-weather precision

    Instrument Rating

The Instrument Rating is where good pilots become precise pilots. Training sharpens your precision, situational awareness, and cockpit discipline, and gives you the ability to fly confidently by reference to instruments alone.

Our glass-cockpit Piper Cherokee is an ideal instrument trainer — the modern avionics environment you learn in mirrors the panels you will fly behind for the rest of your flying life.

Prerequisites and required hours are handled case-by-case — contact us and we will map your path.

  3. 3

    Rung 3 of 4 Career-ready standards

    Commercial Pilot

Commercial training is about refinement, consistency, and professionalism. Every maneuver is flown to tighter tolerances, and every flight builds the habits expected of a pilot who flies for a living.

This stage prepares you for advanced flying and career-oriented goals — whether that means flying professionally or simply holding yourself to a professional standard.

Prerequisites and required hours are handled case-by-case — contact us and we will map your path.

  4. 4

Rung 4 of 4 Teach to a high standard

    CFI / CFII

Becoming an instructor is the deepest way to learn. Our CFI / CFII training focuses on developing instructors who can communicate clearly, teach to a high standard, and pass on real-world judgment — not just checkride answers.

If you are pursuing instructional certifications for professional advancement, we will build a path that produces a teacher, not just a certificate holder.

Prerequisites and required hours are handled case-by-case — contact us and we will map your path.

Top of the ladder: you're the one teaching the next pilot.
